Meet Michael
MICHAEL A. COUCH is President of Michael Couch & Associates Inc., a versatile consulting practice focused on dramatically improving the capability of organizations, teams and individuals.
Michael has made a career out of improving the effectiveness of organizations, both as an internal consultant and as a business executive. Starting from a graduate degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, he has over 30 years experience working on a wide range of organization challenges at the team, facility, division and corporate levels.
In additional to his organization effectiveness background, Michael has the unique experience of being the Managing Director for a Strategic Business Unit as well as leading Manufacturing, Customer Service, Materials Management, Production Planning, Inventory Management and Logistics. He has over 25 years experience with continuous improvement initiatives, from Quality Circles to Six Sigma, and has led company-wide Lean Manufacturing implementations. He is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
His expert facilitation skills have been applied to strategic planning, decision making, team development, process improvement, project planning and problem solving situations. Michael is certified in Compression Planning® by The Compression Planning Institute. He has designed and facilitated sessions of all types - from small groups to groups over 200, from short 1- 2 hour sessions to multi-day events.
Michael is a co-founder, President and Board Member of the Human Resources Leadership Forum of Western PA and is an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association. He is a certified Human Capital Strategist by the Human Capital Institute and a Senior Professional in HR by the Society for Human Resources Management. In addition, he is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Human Resources Planning & Strategy, the Institute for Corporate Productivity, the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the Institute of Management Consultants, Sustainable Pittsburgh, and The Indus Entrepreneurs of Pittsburgh.
Michael resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Amy and daughter, Taylor, both of whom are dedicated educators.
Michael's unique background in operations, business management, and organization effectiveness allows him to partner with senior leadership, wear many hats, and collaborate with people throughout an organization, building organizations that have a positive impact on the bottom line.
